Grief Reimagined. Purpose Empowered.
The Lost Travelers Club
Surviving partners, parents, friends is so hard, isn't it? Uniquely challenging is the grief journey after surviving one's child. We are Peregrines. Lost Travelers.
The mission
You are not alone on this road
The mission of the Lost Travelers Club is to provide a supportive and empowering community for Peregrines: parents who have outlived our beloved children.
Through empathetic counseling, virtual retreats, charitable work, and more, we aim to break through isolation, and 'flip the script' of what parental grief is, while honoring the memories of our children as we step back into the world with empowered purpose and reimagined grief.
Membership in this club is free. Join us on the journey. Welcome to your Club.
We are each Lost Travelers on the wondrous adventure of discovering and creating new pathways toward wholeness. The destination may seem elusive, but it is the imagination of possibility that keeps us moving forward.
Tao Te Ching, approx. 601 to 501 BCE
千里之行,始于足下。
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
Held in common
The Peregrine Manifesto
- We accept fully that grief is part of our story now.
- We recognize that no one else can fully know the shape or depth of our unique journey.
- In our trigger moments, we process complex emotions without judgment.
- We recognize that our emotional 'tsunamis' serve to cleanse our hearts and guide us forward toward lighter moments.
- We honor the ebb and flow of energy this journey brings, finding safe harbors to rest when needed.
- Patience and compassion for ourselves must become our constant practice.
- Rituals sustain us. We keep our children alive within our hearts through meaningful symbols and actions.
- We share these touchpoints with others when we can, though we must guard our own as private and sacred.
- It is understood that platitudes and simplistic comforts will rankle us, and we are quick to understand and forgive.
- We seek to guide and transform advisors into compassionate listeners, knowing they aim to empathize. They care.
- We recognize that integrating the grief journey into our lives is the work of a lifetime.
- We mosaic our broken pieces gradually into a new whole. Purpose will re-emerge, though in a different shape than before.
- We recognize this journey is a solitary one, while also remembering that we are surrounded by community, and that we share a bond of the deepest ties and understanding of those who journey beside us on the Peregrine Path.
- We courageously endure this process and honor our children, guided by their beautiful light which lives within us and works through us.
